UI Designer

As the UI Designer you will be the lead UI resource on projects developing and improving web-based applications.  You will develop and maintain cross-browser friendly CSS, XHTML, and JavaScript code. Develop working prototypes for internal review and UI design collaboration. Very high profile and visible job.  You will work with R&D and Marketing and be a huge part in helping “brand” our company and our solutions.
Core Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Business Customers, Project Managements/Analysts/Development and Quality teams to design and deliver web UIs that are simple, intuitive and user friendly.
  • Create all UI documentation required to support successful project delivery, including but not limited to:  UI requirements, formatting standards, screen mock ups (wireframes), flow diagrams, HTML templates, prototypes and “ready to use” interface mockups with all graphical elements included.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with Business Customers, Project Management, Development and QA teams concerning UI requirements.
  • Consult with Marketing, Sales and Support teams to gain a user view of the current state of our applications.  Apply this information to the next generation product design to deliver on customer feedback.
  • Participate in product validation to confirm product was delivered according to specifications & provide feedback to Dev & QA as needed to resolve issues.
  • Create and Maintain Design Documentation as required for product delivery.

Experience and knowledge

  • Several years of hands-on experience with commercial web projects designed interactive features and experiences
  • A designer who knows typography, understands color, page layout, and knows how to optimize graphics to be fully functional and appealing on the Web, appreciate one-click interfaces and user-interaction consistency designing both form and function
  • Ability to reduce complex user interface/experience issues to simple, intuitive solutions using the latest design and technology tools
  • Knowledgeable about best practices, current user-centered web-design trends and techniques
  • Experience optimizing highly trafficked web pages
  • Consult developers on design and layout to take better advantage of available technologies
  • A designer, who takes pride in doing great pixel-perfect work, cares about the details.

Team work and Communication skills

  • Very good spoken and written English in order to interact with staff/clients
  • Ability to multi-task and take initiative, self-starter.
  • Ability to work well under pressure meet deadlines and work in changing environment
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, ability to prioritize

Tools and technologies

  • Solid proficiency in a variety of design and prototyping tools.
  • Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of HTML, XML, CSS, javascript for rich interfaces (widgets, ajax, frameworks, JQuery, Telerik, etc.)
  • Experience working as a designer with Microsoft ASP .NET developers
